We wanted to take the time to further explain a few updates
that have taken place in recent months.
Cancellation of unfilled items:
Previously, InStockTrades would attempt to fulfill out of
stock titles for up to 3 months before cancelling the item and issuing a refund
for it.
Recently, we tried bumping the cancellation point down to
one week and after receiving customer feedback on this update we decided to
extend the cancellation point to 30 days. If we do not complete an order within
30 days of order placement, any remaining out of stock items will be cancelled
from the order and the remainder of the order will be shipped at that time.
InStockTrades has decided to make this change due to uncertainty with
restocking times from our distributors and not wanting to keep customers on
hold for a long period of time.
Payment Collection:
Previously, all payment collections for InStockTrades orders
were done at the time of order placement. Any unfilled items were refunded back
to the original form of payment (credit card or PayPal) at the time of
cancellation.
Credit cards:
Recently, we have made the adjustment to not collect credit
card payment until an order is complete or a shipment is prepared to be sent. At
the time of order placement, an authorization hold is placed on your credit
card for the order total, and the hold will stay until the order is complete.
A few examples of this for credit card payments:
Order #1 was created on 9/19/2025 and order total was
$50.00. No payment was collected at the time of order placement but a hold of
$50.00 was placed on the credit card. The order is picked & scanned on
9/20/2025 and is ready to be shipped. At that time the payment of $50.00 is
captured on the customer’s credit card. Since the full amount is captured,
there is no longer a hold on the credit card.
Order #2 was created on 9/19/2025 and order total was $100.00. No payment was collected at the time of order placement but a hold of $100.00 was placed on the credit card. The order is picked & scanned on 9/20/2025 but there is a title that is temporarily out of stock. On day 7, we initiate the partial process for this order since the last title is still out of stock. During the partial process, we collect payment for the in-stock portion of the order. A payment of $75.00 is captured on the credit card for the items that are able to ship. At this time, there is still a hold of $25.00 on the credit card for the remaining balance for the order and this hold will stay until the last item is either fulfilled or cancelled. For US orders only, international orders are held until complete.
PayPal:
The payment process for this payment method has not changed. All payments are collected at the time of order placement and refunds are issued for any unfilled product.
