The Hunger

The Hunger is the story of a college student named Charles Lee who, while celebrating Mardi Gras, takes a wrong turn. Kidnapped, murdered and brought back to life as the zombie slave of a Caribbean gangster, he is forced to commit heinous acts of violence and cannibalism in the name of his masters. The Voodoo aspect separates The Hunger from most traditional zombie tales. Instead of zombies as a diseased horde, they are locked in a spiritual state that magically separates Charlie from the passion and humanity of life but leaves the memory painfully intact. When a caper goes wrong, his master is killed leaving Charlie to fend for himself in the face of the uncontrollable homicidal urges that possess him whenever he is hungry. As the trail of bodies grows, Charlie finds himself on the run, not only from the criminal element intent on tying up this loose end, but also from the F.B.I., baffled by murders seemingly perpetrated by the very person they think to be the first victim.
